Paid tickets are required for entry; an unaccompanied child will be barred from entry without refund. In 2013, a new non-profit organization, Poe Baltimore, was established to serve as the museum's new governing body and operate the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum. It reopened to the public on October 5, 2013.[3] Poe Baltimore is an independent organization, and the Board of Directors and volunteer corps include members from the Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore.

Established in 1782, Lexington Market is one of the oldest continually operating public markets in the United States. This historic market has tons of specialties, from fresh produce to unique eats. It's a place where chefs, locals, and tourists mingle to sample some of Baltimore's classic flavors. Sessions are led online via the Zoom conferencing platform, led by a live museum docent.
Along with the imagery from the first stanza of “To One in Paradise” there are many pieces of the garden with connections to Poe’s life. The stone benches sitting along the edges of the garden were taken from the Yarrington Boarding house, which was located near the Capitol along Bank Street (the site where Poe married his wife Virginia). The ivy that lines the green isle was taken from Edgar Allan Poe’s mother’s grave in St. John’s Church. Eliza Poe was not only Edgar’s mother, but also a renowned actress. On April 26, 1922, the Poe Shrine opened to the public with a weekend of activities in the Enchanted Garden.

Comic books figure prominently in the exhibit. The very first American comic books — magazine-style anthologies of newspaper comic strips called “Famous Funnies” and “Funnies on Parade” — were printed in Connecticut. Framed examples of those historic documents are on the museum walls alongside those issued decades later by the Derby-based Charlton Comics company. The Walters Art Museum is a Baltimore gem, housing an expansive collection of art that spans 7,000 years of human history. Located in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon Cultural District, the museum features Egyptian mummies, Renaissance paintings, and Asian art among other global artifacts. Free admission encourages everyone to explore its extensive exhibits.

A must-visit for book lovers, the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum celebrates the life and work of one of America's most influential writers. Located at 203 Amity Street, this preserved residence where Poe lived during the 1830s offers a glimpse into his early years. The museum hosts a variety of artifacts, including personal items and first editions of Poe’s work, providing a deeper understanding of his contributions to mystery and macabre literature. Others are deeply fascinating, like the battered boots Ocean Vuong wore on his trip to America, next to the writer’s portable Royal Fleetwood typewriter. Children’s book superstar Richard Scarry gets his own corner of the exhibit, with a mural devoted to his cute animal creations overlooking a nook of beanbag chairs where you can sprawl out and peruse Scarry’s Busytown adventures. Poe House is part of the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Locals refer to the one-time resident as “E.A.” in order to avoid confusion with the famous author of the same name.

After architect Rudolph Schindler came to California in the 1920s to oversee construction of Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock House, he designed his residence in West Hollywood. Some say it was the first modern house to respond to California's unique climate, serving as the prototype for the distinctive California style that developed in the early twentieth century. This house is in an area of the Silver Lake neighborhood called The Colony, where you'll find a number of Neutra designs on and around Neutra Place. You can see them from the outside by touring off Earl Street between Silver Lake Boulevard and Glendale Boulevard. The house is a private neighborhood, and there's no parking at the house. Changing exhibits and tours are scheduled from time to time. The house is located at the crest of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Mulholland Drive and is open for guided tours by reservation only. Poe House is OPEN for tours every Thursday thru Sunday from 11AM to 4PM (Wednesdays in May thru October.) Reservations are REQUIRED. Walk-ups are only permitted when space allows, so please book ahead. All proceeds benefit the Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum, to help keep Poe’s chamber door open to visitors. The Enchanted Garden serves as the backdrop for a variety of events throughout the year including weddings, Unhappy Hours, the Birthday Bash, and other special events. The Enchanted Garden is also available to be rented for private events. The Old Stone House is the oldest residential building that is still standing in Richmond, Virginia. It currently houses an exhibit about Poe’s childhood in Richmond. Although Edgar Allan Poe never lived in the Old Stone House, he still had connections to the home itself and its surrounding neighborhood.
